This website is an independent assignment for an online course which focuses on hollistic approaches to using technology in the classroom.

This website was inpired by my past work at an interactive science centre. At this science centre, I had the chance to lead many workshops and demonstrations for children and adults alike. While the large demonstrations had a satisfying shock factor (you try seeing a flour fire ball and not gasping), it was the smaller hands-on activities that I found truly made a difference.

While leading themed science camps and on-the-spot "science busking" demonstrations on the floor, I was able to interact with the visitors and shape their learning experience.  Teachers and parents were always astonished with how much their students enjoyed these activities and wished to expose them to more interactive demonstrations. With this website, I wanted to bring this interactive piece directly into the classroom.

How to Navigate the Website:

For each grade, there are four strands: Understanding Life Systems, Understanding Structures and Mechanisms, Understanding Matter and Energy, and Understanding Earth and Space Systems. Each strand will feature two to three interactive hands-on activities that are directly linked to specific expectations found in the Ontario 2007 Science Curriculum. These activities are meant to be a starting point. I hope they inspire you to research and create interactive activities for your own classroom.
